Government College of Education for Science, Township Lahore was established in 1979 by the Government of Pakistan under the provisions of New Educational Policy 1972-80 on the recommendations of UNESCO & British High Powered Education Mission headed by Sir Lord James to prepare science teachers as there was severe shortage of science teachers in Pakistan.It is a unique and prestigious institution for preparing science teachers, through a composite program of content and pedagogy (12+3 model). It is one of pioneer and prestigious institution in science teacher education in Pakistan, and has produced effective, efficient science teachers of high caliber. The college has produced more than two thousand graduates by 2010. The graduates of this institution are working in elementary, secondary, higher secondary schools; degree and post graduate colleges; teacher training institutions; universities; and research organizations, as teachers, researchers and administrative personnel, both in public and private intuitions in Pakistan and several countries in the entire world. For the purpose of continuous liaison and professional development of the graduates of this college an Alumni Association was organized in 1988. The Alumni Association has been arranging intellectual, professional, social, cultural, sports and recreational events at different occasions. Where Old Students meet and interact and share their experiences of professional and social life. An important purpose of association is the enhancement and enrichment of the quality of education in Pakistan. It also focus on  professional development and welware of its alumnus.
